Fatal Crash on US Route 7, Pittsford

A fatal two-vehicle collision on October 25, 2024, claimed the life of Jeremy Eaton, 50, from Tinmouth, Vermont. The accident occurred on US Route 7 near Channing Lane in Pittsford, when Eaton’s Cadillac crossed the centerline and collided head-on with a southbound Volvo tractor-trailer operated by 27-year-old Arieon Armstrong of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Eaton, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene. Armstrong sustained minor injuries and was treated at Rutland Regional Medical Center. The crash remains under investigation. Investigation into Two Deaths in Newfane

The VSP launched an investigation following the discovery of two deceased individuals in a Newfane residence on October 25, 2024. Relatives reported the deaths, prompting law enforcement and emergency responders to secure the scene. Early indications suggest this was an isolated incident, with no apparent threat to public safety. The bodies were transported to the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office in Burlington for autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death. Authorities continue to seek information related to the case. Road Closure Following Crash on I-89

On October 26, 2024, the northbound lanes of Interstate 89 near mile marker 75.2 were shut down due to a traffic crash. Emergency responders, including the VSP’s Williston Barracks, responded to the scene. While details about the cause and number of vehicles involved were not immediately available, the closure was expected to cause significant delays. Motorists were advised to seek alternate routes. A DUI-related incident occurred on October 25, 2024, when a 21-year-old driver, Coleman Scollard, crashed his Honda CRV over an embankment on Griggs Road in Eden. The Vermont State Police, along with North Hyde Park Fire Department and Northern EMS, arrived to find the vehicle totaled. Scollard sustained a minor eye injury, and preliminary investigations indicated signs of impairment.
