Last fall, REDC hosted one of twelve Regional Workforce Summits around the state in partnership with the VT Department of Labor (VDOL) and the State Workforce Development Board (SWDB) with the Regional Development Corporations. This past week, the VDOL and Governor Phil Scott accepted the 2019 Regional Workforce Summit Report as a result of these series of events.
The Regional Workforce Summits around the state were the first step in developing actionable items to address the workforce shortage in Vermont. Each summit brought together various employers, providers, and educators to discuss the impacts of the workforce shortage on their daily work. From these facilitated discussions, a full report was generated to submit to the SWDB to prepare their 2020 WIOA State Plan.
REDC is thrilled to share this report with our region while continuing the conversations and efforts with our employers, providers, and educators to address these challenges. We are incredibly grateful for those who attended our Regional Workforce Summit and provided their input, feedback, and ground-level experiences and helped us share the effects of our workforce challenges. It is their first-hand experiences that provide us at REDC, VDOL, and SWDB the information and collaboration that we need to determine steps forward to help make Vermont a better place to live, work, play, and grow a business. We look forward to continuing this work and sharing collaborative next steps with you in 2020.
